IND vs SA 3rd Test, Cape Town – Coming into bat at 58/4, Rishabh Pant played a counter-attacking innings, building a strong partnership with captain Virat Kohli on Day 3. After a string of failures, pant gave himself time and got in playing risk-free shots heading into lunch.

The introduction of Keshav Maharaj post Lunch saw Rishabh Pant unleash his range of shots. The 24-year-old hit the South African bowlers all across the park to get to his century and remained unbeaten before running out of partners.

Pant scored a little more than 50% of the runs India put on in the 2nd innings, and no other batter in the XI had scored more than 30, with Virat Kohli’s 29 being the second-best effort. He is also the only Indian to score a hundred when the team was bowled out for less than 200. Pant joins an elite list, becoming just the sixth player to do so, and the first since Kumar Sangakkara back in 2006.
