IND vs SA LIVE: Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara subject to meme fest, fans roast duo on Twitter with ‘Happy Retirement’ jibe- check hilarious reactions
Resuming the day after scoring 9 runs yesterday, Cheteshwar Pujara couldn’t add anything to his overnight score as he was dismissed in the second delivery off the day. He edged a Marco Jansen’s delivery off his glove and Keegan Petersen at leg slip took a stunning diving catch. Rahane too went back to the pavilion immediately in the next over, managing to score just one run.
Considered to be Test specialists, both the batsmen are already on a lean patch and they have failed yet again in Cape Town, in a Test match that is very important for India as they are on the brink of defeating South Africa in their own backyard for the first time in history.
After the duo’s poor show, they were severely criticized on social media as fans started writing their obituary by trending ‘Happy Retirement Guys’. Here is how Twitter reacted.
Time to say goodbye to Pujara and Rahane.

With players like Shreyas Iyer, who scored a century and a fifty on debut during the home series against New Zealand and Hanuma Vihari, who came in as Kohli’s replacement and scored a solid gritty unbeaten 40 in the second innings of the previous match, waiting in the ranks, looks like the time has run out for both Pujara and Rahane. They have already been given a long rope but the dismal show is just continuing on and on.
With India set to play it’s next Test match later in February against Sri Lanka at home, it remains to be seen whether the selectors would drop the veterans or continue to persist with them.
