IND vs SA Day 2: Play at Centurion officially called off – Rain had the final laugh on Day 2 as the play at Centurion has been officially called off. Earlier, an entire first session was washed out due to persistent rain and both teams took an early lunch to account for the delayed start. However, with rain relenting to stop, the entire day’s play was called off. Follow Insidesport.in for all IND vs SA LIVE Updates.

Both teams will square off again tomorrow morning and hopefully get full overs of play as the weather forecast for Day 3 looks promising. However, the rain will again play spoilsport on Day 5 and Virat Kohli and Co have two days of play to bring out the outcome. With KL Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, and Shardul Thakur in the lineup, India will be eying to post something around 450 tomorrow and look to bowl out the Proteas twice if possible.

KL Rahul (122*) and Ajinkya Rahane (40*) will resume the proceedings tomorrow.

India had a solid Day 1 at Centurion and will hope to build on the same when they take the field on Monday. KL Rahul will resume his innings on 122 and will hope to continue his fine form, while Ajinkya Rahane will hope to make his start count and plunder the runs. With Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur yet to come, India will hope to score quickly and hopefully get to the 450-run mark to put the hosts behind the eight ball.

South Africa meanwhile failed to make in-roads late in the day, but with the ball still relatively new, both Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi will have their tails as they will look to force a collapse. Ngidi picked up all three wickets, while Rabada bowled extended spells making the batsman play in the corridor of uncertainty without much success. Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder also bowled their hearts out, but couldn’t break India’s resolute defence.

IND vs SA pitch report

The outfield at Centurion is lightning quick with the deliveries travelling quickly to the boundaries. With the Sun out on Day 1, the conditions suited batting after an initial overcast spell, which further aided India’s cause. The surface is expected to deteriorate as the game progresses and the pacers will have to work hard to get some movement off the surface while variable bounce could trouble the batsman later in the day.

IND vs SA Weather report

While the first three days of the IND vs SA 1st Tests were expected to be marred by rain, Day 1 saw India bat out their entire quota of overs without any stoppage. However, the forecast suggests that the conditions won’t be the same on Day 2, with showers expected in Centurion. Stoppages are likely but overcast conditions should further aid the pacers making life difficult for the batters.
