IND vs PAK: India vs Pakistan will resume on September 11 (Monday) as the rain played the spoilsport in Colombo on Sunday. Batting first, India got off to a flying start as skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stroked fifties with the bat. At present, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are in the middle for India.
Pakistan Playing XI: Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam(c), Mohammad Rizwan(w), Agha Salman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf
India Playing XI: Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan(w), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
In their previous clash, Pakistan bowlers outperformed India’s batting lineup, causing India to lose their top four batters in under 15 overs. But thanks to Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87), India managed to reach a respectable total of 266. However, the match was washed out by heavy rain, with no balls bowled in the second innings. Pakistan is entering this match on the back of a win against Bangladesh in their first Super 4 match, while India is set to play their first game in this stage.
Looking ahead to the match, the Indian team management faces a big dilemma in choosing their wicket-keeper. KL Rahul, who has joined the team for the Super Four stage, took up wicket-keeping duties for about 45 minutes during the training session on Friday. In Rahul’s absence, Ishan Kishan has been fulfilling the role of wicketkeeper-batter. Kishan has made an impressive impact with four half-centuries in as many matches – three against the West Indies and one against Pakistan.
