IND vs PAK LIVE – ICC T20 World Cup 2022 – Babar Azam practice: Pakistan skipper Babar Azam isn’t happy with his technique against short-ball. With Mohammad Shami getting his rhythm back, Azam is worried. The reason? It’s Shami’s lethal short balls that are difficult to duck. As Shami is expected bowl in the powerplay, Babar Azam will be facing a lot of them against India on October 23. Hence, Babar is leaving no stones unturned. As has been pointed out by many, it is becoming his weakness. To counter that, he had a 45-minute-long batting session at the Gabba nets on Wednesday. Shami is known for using short-ball as a potent weapon in his arsenal. While his six deliveries against Australia included 3 yorkers, the short-pitch deliveries will also be the ones to watch out for. Pakistan’s batting consultant Matthew Hayden spent considerable time with Babar Azam speaking with him during the nets session.
Hayden might be sharing his expertise on how to tackle the short balls as he was an excellent batter of the short-pitch deliveries himself.

He instructed Pakistan bowlers to bowl bouncers and shorter lengths at the nets. Indian bowlers have made a potent weapon of short deliveries and Pakistan batters are well aware of that. India troubled Australian and South African batters with such deliveries in the recent series. Apart from India’s regular pace attack, Hardik Pandya too has resorted to such a technique.

Babar Azam’s short-pitch practice:
- Babar Azam has struggled against short-pitch deliveries of late.
- It was clearly evident in the Asia Cup. Against England too, he did struggle.
- With Mohammad Shami possessing the short-ball weapon besides Hardik Pandya, Babar Azam wants to get the homework done.
- The other reason is that Pakistan played in New Zealand with a different range of bounce.
- In Australia, it will be different again.
- Hence to get adjusted to the bounce, Pakistan had their short-pitch practice on Tuesday.
- Pakistan watched India’s match against Australia on Monday from the stands.
- With Mohammad Shami bowling just 1 over but delivering 3 brilliant yorkers, Pakistan know he is ready to come back.
- Hence, Pakistan do not want to be underprepared.

PAK vs AFG Warm-Up: On Wednesday, Pakistan will face Afghanistan in their last warm-up game. After a crushing defeat to England, Pakistan know they have their weaknesses. Although both Babar Azam and Mohd Rizwan did not play, their middle-order is already a concern.
Furthermore, fast bowling will be a challenge to tackle in Australia. Pakistan had a good build-up against England at home and New Zealand & Bangladesh in NZ. With that sort of practice, Babar Azam & Co are ready for the T20 World Cup.
