The 32-year-old pacer has been playing for India since 2013. Shami made his debut against Pakistan at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla on Jan 6 2013 and had an impressive run, with two wickets on debut. He has taken 159 wickets in the 87 ODIs he has played so far.

Shami has made a name for himself as one of the most consistent bowlers in the world. He has also been one of India’s most economical bowlers, with an economy rate of 5.60 in the eighty-seven ODIs he has played. Moreover, Shami was the fastest Indian to take 100 wickets in ODIs.

In the second ODI against NewZealand, Shami’s first blood was Finn Allen. Shami clean-bowled Allen in the first over of the game. Then Shami took a blinder catch of Daryl Mitchell off his bowling. And in the 19th over Shami scalped the wicket of NewZealand’s last match hero Michael Bracewell. Bracewell was looking good but Shami trapped him, the ball gets an edge and went straight into the gloves of Ishan Kishan.

The right-arm pacer’s entry into the top-10 list is a momentous achievement for him. He has worked tirelessly to improve his game and has become one of the most reliable bowlers in world cricket. He has been the go-to man for India in tricky situations and has often provided the team with timely breakthroughs. His ability to bowl yorkers with precision has also been a major plus for India.
