Currently placed second in ICC Test rankings with 119 rating points, Team India trail World Test Champions New Zealand who are the No 1 team with 126 rating points. But if India manage to win the first Test in Kanpur, they will go three rating points clear to reclaim No 1 spot.

- India are placed second in the latest ICC Test Rankings with 119 rating but have most points 2987.
- The ratings decide a team’s place in the ICC team rankings.
- World Test Champions New Zealand are currently at top with 126 points.
- If India win the first Test, India will earn five rating points while New Zealand will lose as many points.
- India can still retain the place if they draw the second Test in Mumbai.
- However, if India lose the second Test and draw the series, Kane Williamson & Co will take the top spot back.

IND NZ Test Series – Indian Test Players Training at BKC, Mumbai: The likes of Skipper Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ishant Sharma and Mayank Agarwal and a few other players were training in Mumbai’s BKC from past 7 days.
The entire Indian team will assemble in Kanpur on Monday.
Ajinkya Rahane will lead India in absence of Virat Kohli in the opening Test while Virat Kohli will return to captain India in the 2nd Test in Mumbai.
Rohit Sharma is flying back to Mumbai & has taken break from the test series.
On the other hand, the visiting Kiwi team will also be boosted with return of the likes of Kane Williamson and pacer Kyle Jamieson in the squad. Both had taken break from the just concluded T20 Series to stay afresh for the Test series.
