IND vs NZ 2nd T20: Dhoni to attend 2nd T20: Former India skipper turned mentor MS Dhoni is enjoying some time off at his hometown Ranchi. But as Rohit Sharma & Co are all set to play the 2nd T20 against New Zealand at the JSCA Stadium on Friday, Dhoni will be seen cheering the Men in Blue from the stands. It could also be an opportunity for the crowd to cheer local boy Ishan Kishan. Follow India vs New Zealand Live Updates on InsideSport.in.
MS Dhoni has already taken a few trips to the JSCA complex ahead of the 2nd T20. He was seen using the spending time in the gym and sweated it out on the tennis court to stay fit. During his visit, Jharkhand’s U-19 team also had a rare chance to speak to the legend and get autographs.

MS Dhoni returned home on November 9 after India were ousted from the T20 World Cup. While his first stint as a mentor didn’t go well with India losing to Pakistan and New Zealand, Dhoni didn’t waste time working on his own fitness.

However, the match in Ranchi will also be an opportunity for Dhoni’s ward Ishan Kishan to don the India jersey in front of the home crowd. An explosive wicketkeeper-batsman like his mentor MS Dhoni himself, the Jharkhand captain has made a name in the domestic circuit, IPL and then for India. His 70 off 46 against England in the warm-up match was the highlight.
With thousands cheering from MS Dhoni stand including the man himself, Ishan Kishan will have the opportunity to impress his idol. However, considering Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma are not keen on changing the winning combination, Kishan may have to wait for his opportunity. The only position that could open up is of KL Rahul if he is rested.
For Team India, Ranchi T20I will be a chance to wrap up the T20 series against New Zealand after a five-wicket win in the first T20 in Jaipur.
