IND vs ENG: Indian dressing room erupts with joy after India’s historic win at Lord’s, in-stadium fan says, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’; Watch video: Indian team under Virat Kohli’s captaincy pulled off a historic win in the second Test against England at Lord’s to go up the series by 1-0. No sooner the visitors pulled off the win at the ‘home of cricket,’ Indian players celebrated the moment with pure joy and thunderous applause in the dressing room.  In fact, an in-stadium Indian fan was seen cheering ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ after India’s special win.

A minute-long video commenced with Virat Kohli and co. shaking hands with the hosts (England players) after the match concluded in India’s favour. The next scene featured the electrifying atmosphere in the Indian dressing which received thunderous applause after the victory.

Character has been the hallmark of the Indian team, says Virat Kohli

Indian skipper Virat Kohli took pride in the team and spoke of the visitors’ achievement at the ‘mecca of cricket.’

All I can say is that I am really proud of the team. We have had some amazing overseas wins but this one is right up there because of the belief and the character we showed. And that has been the hallmark of our team.

The vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who wove a crucial 100 run partnership alongside Cheteshwar Pujara in the second innings felt proud of the teams’ efforts. “The way we played, the way we came back especially in the second innings, this win really means a lot to us.

KL Rahul, the player of the match says this win is super super special

KL Rahul, who was adjudged as the player of the match for his iconic hundred at Lord’s in the first innings acknowledged the teams’ efforts. “Coming to England and winning the Test matches is super super special. The credit goes to each and everybody in the team and everyone who has put in the effort for two and a half months.

Not just one or two guys, but all eleven came together at different stages put their hand up and took the responsibility,” said Rohit Sharma.

Cheteshwar Pujara said, “It’s a great start to the series there is a lot to play also. Looking ahead to the series but at this stage, we are really proud of the way we played in the first two Test matches.

Mohammed Shami & Siraj happy with India leading series 1-0

The biggest reason for the happiness is that we are leading the series 1-0. I hope in the upcoming matches as well we carry forward the same confidence and momentum and bring laurels for the team“, mentioned Mohammed Shami.

“Coming here and play with the best performance and making the country win is the biggest achievement for me,” said Mohammed Siraj.
