Watching Rishabh Pant in the nets comes as a good news for Indian cricket fans. An official statement on his fitness is yet to be disclosed by the team management. The first look states that he is fully fit and will make it to the playing XI against Bangladesh.

As many as three top players – Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami will miss the Test series against Bangladesh. Though Rohit is expected to be fit for the second Test, but a final decision is yet to be taken by the BCCI.

In Rishabh’s case, the left-hander was ‘mysteriously’ ruled out of the 3-match-ODI series against Bangladesh earlier this month. InsideSport was the first platform to report that Rishabh Pant is carrying a ‘BACK’ injury.

The good news was that the injury was not serious. He continued his light gym sessions to be in shape before returning to full practice. He was under the observation of BCCI’s medical team.

What exactly happened?

Soon after the playing XI against Bangladesh for the 1st ODI was announced, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant’s name was missing from the list.

BCCI released a statement on its Twitter handle stating that Pant has been ruled out of the 3-match ODI series and is under medical observation. No immediate replacement has been named.

Rishabh Pant’s form hasn’t been great either. He could manage only 31 runs from two outings against New Zealand. This has led to former cricketer players and experts questioning his spot in the side. With Ishan Kishan scoring a double hundred against Bangladesh, the pressure is certainly on the Delhi born cricketer.

For the moment, he is the number one choice wicket-keeper batsman for India in Test cricket.

Rishabh Pant returns after opting out of the ODI series earlier this month. The mercurial keeper will hope to get back into his groove in his favourite format. The left-hander has struggled for form over the last few months. However, his place in the test team is in no question, scoring 146 and 58 on his last Test.

A big score will only shut down his critics, but a stretch of low totals will only add more pressure on Rishabh Pant.
