Chasing a daunting target of 185 runs, Das flourished in the middle with his range of shot to keep the Indian bowlers at bay. His brilliance helped Bangladesh amass 66 runs in seven overs and put them in a strong position before rain came into play. He had notched up seven boundaries and three sixes in 26 deliveries before the game was halted.
The Bangladesh opener became the FIRST player to score a T20I fifty at the same moment the team total reached fifty. Such was his dominance, that he managed 60 runs in his partnership with Najmul Hossain Shanto, who managed just seven runs in the same period.
However, he was run out, by a direct throw by India opener KL Rahul for 60 runs off 27 deliveries soon after the match was resumed. His loss saw a major turnaround in the game as Bangladesh slumped from 68/1 to 100/4 with the Shakib Al Hasan-led side losing the plot in the chase.
