Travis Head scores century; becomes 3rd Australian to do so in World Cup finals

Ricky Ponting first scored a ton against India in the World Cup finals in 2003. The right-handed batter scored 140 runs from 121 balls against India at Johannesburg in 2003. Wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist later on scored 149 runs off 104 deliveries in Bridgetown in 2007. Travis Head became the third Australian to score a 100 in a World Cup final during IND vs AUS World Cup 2023 final.

IND vs AUS: Australia win record 6th trophy

Australia lifts the World Cup for a record 6th time. Tasked to chase 241 runs, Travis Head took the responsibility on his shoulders to slam a magnificent 137-run knock. Batting first India succumbed under pressure and dual fifties from Kohli & KL Rahul helped the Men in Blue post 240 runs on the board.

But it was the overall show of the Men in Yellow who dominated every aspect of the final to seal the tie. The Indian bowlers started well as both Bumrah & Shami scalped early wickets but Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagned stitched a 150+ run partnership to guide their side to win the World Cup.
