Iyer took to social media to post a video where he was spotted facing Bumrah’s bowling. The India team and fans patiently await for Bumrah to return and take the cricketing world by storm. Still far from achieving 100% fitness, Bumrah will continue his rehabilitation before heading to the National Cricket Academy for a fitness test. If he passes the test, he will play in the domestic before returning to India Team during the Australia series. It should be noted that Bumrah hasn’t been named in the squad for the first two Tests.
Prior to India vs NewZealand 2nd ODI encounter, India’s current bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey heaped praises for Bumrah.
“Bumrah is a unique bowler. Let’s accept the fact that the kind of skills he brings is very difficult to replicate. It’s also an opportunity for other bowlers because you will be tested in different situations. It will help us understand what they bring to the game, at what stages did they bowl and how they did it. There are one-on-one discussions with them. It’s an ongoing process,” said India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.

Earlier Bumrah resumed his bowling at the NCA but then complained of stiffness in his back and was subsequently asked to continue his recovery. “He is making progress but he is far from 100%. He needs another 2 weeks of rehab before making a return to competitive cricket. If everything goes well, he may play in the domestic before returning to Test series. But it depends on the selectors and his condition,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport earlier.
With World Cup just 10 months away at home, BCCI is not taking any chances regarding Bumrah.
“We cannot take any chance when it comes to players’ injuries. We already paid the price for a rushed return and he missed the T20 World Cup. He will only return when he is completely fit as he is crucial to our plans in World Cup. As for domestic, it is a good practice ground for all cricketers before going directly to international cricket,” the official said.
