- Following his tour in England, Bumrah complained of a backache.
- Later, it was discovered that his back injury had returned.
- Bumrah was absent from the West Indies trip and the 2022 Asia Cup.
- However, the NCA and the selectors hurried his return before the T20 WC.
- After bowling only 6 overs against Australia, he was disqualified from the entire South Africa series as well as the T20 World Cup.
- Bumrah was selected for the ODI series against Sri Lanka after nearly five months of rehabilitation.
- But he was removed from the squad after complaining of a sore back.
- He was again not chosen for the NZ and Australia (first two games) series by the selectors.
- Currently, Bumrah is continuing his rehabilitation.
