IND vs AUS: Border-Gavaskar Trophy – Australia spinner Nathan Lyon once again got better of the India ‘Wall’ Cheteshwar Pujara in the third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy currently taking place in Indore. After being brought into the attack in the ninth over of the game, Lyon struck with his second delivery, sending Pujara back with a sharp turning ball. Pujara tried to drive the ball through the off-side by shifting from his front foot to his back foot deep in the crease, but the ball stayed low and turned in far from the outside off, easily beating Pujara and crashing into the middle stump. With this dismissal, Pujara has now humiliatingly fallen to the Australian spinner 12 times, which is also a record for an Indian batter, along with the legend Sunil Gavaskar, who was dismissed by Derek Underwood a record 12 times. Lyon has a solid but not exceptional record in India, with 44 wickets in 10 Tests at an average of 29.25. However, he has improved over the years; in 2012–13, he averaged 37.33 from three Tests, but in 2016–17, it reduced to 25.26. As indication that he can provide control at one end while the fast bowlers attack from the other, the economy rate also increased from 4.4 in 2012–13 to 2.88 when he next visited.
In regards to the match, India are in trouble after opting to bat first against Australia in the third Test on Wednesday in Indore.
