IND vs AUS 2nd Test: Travis Head is set to be included in Delhi Test. A legendary Ex-Aussie coach has launched a scathing attack on team management for dropping Head in the Border Gavaskar Trophy opener. The decision to bench Travis Head in Nagpur has been labeled as “ridiculous” by Australian cricket icon Darren Lehmann. He also blamed the team’s disastrous start to the India Tour on the team’s inadequate preparation. Follow India vs Australia LIVE updates with InsideSport.IN

Lehmann oversaw the Australian team throughout the exciting 2017 tour of India. His team won the opening Test before dropping the closely fought series 2-1. He is presently an assistant coach for the Brisbane Heat of the Big Bash League.

Travis Head’s shocking omission, he said to the Sydney Morning Herald, was a clear error.

“They didn’t get selection right. Not playing Head was ridiculous, and he could have bowled some extra overs.”

“The hardest thing for him now is how is he going to try and stay in the side after having such an amazing two years at home.”

“If he’s ever going to succeed it was going to be off the back of the confidence the home series gave him. It’s a really tough one for him. Obviously they had their reasons but the records of the other blokes aren’t overly flattering either apart from [Steve] Smith, and [Marnus] Labuschagne is obviously a good player of spin.”

Following the convincing series victory over South Africa at home, many Test players decided to play in the Big Bash again. But Lehmann thinks this decision backfired by limiting the team’s red-ball practise for India.

The current squad had only a few days on a specially-designed wicket at North Sydney Oval before a quick training camp in Bangalore before the opening match in Nagpur, compared to Lehmann’s 2017 squad’s two weeks of training in Dubai.
