Vihari looked solid during his innings of 72 off 116 balls which comprised 12 boundaries. The innings was filled with grit and confidence. The latest development further puts pressure on injured Ajinkya Rahane who was ruled out of the Mumbai Test. Even Cheteshwar Pujara got out for a duck, raising Vihari above these two stalwarts.
Vihari was named the Player of the Match following notable batting displays throughout the game. The Andra Pradesh batsman was surprisingly axed from New Zealand Tests despite his heroics in Sydney during the India Tour of Australia earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Abhimanyu Easwaran continued his good form after making a century in the last Test.
The third and final four-day clash between SA A and India A will take place at the same venue from Monday.
IND-A Draw SA-A: Hanuma Vihari shines with back to back half-centuries as second unofficial Test ends in a draw
Bad light halted India A’s march towards a possible victory as their second unofficial Test against South Africa A ended in a draw on the fourth and final day of the match here on Friday. In pursuit of a 234-run target, India were going along nicely at 155 for three in their second innings when bad light forced early stumps.
India had more than 20 overs at their disposal and needed to score 79 runs but the weather conditions did not improve.
Hanuma Vihari ended unbeaten on 72 from 116 balls with 12 fours, while Prithvi Shaw scored 18 and Abhimanyu Easwaran contributed 55.
Priyank Panchal could not open his account.
It was when Easwaran was castled by Glenton Stuurman when play was stopped.
Earlier, the hosts resumed at 116 for five and were bowled out for 212.
Overnight batter Tony de Zorzi (24) and George Linde (1) did not last long but Marco Jansen and Stuurman (26) helped South Africa put up a decent total.
It was their cameos in the end that proved crucial to the final outcome of the match.
The final Test of the three-match series will begin on December 6 at the same venue.

IND-A vs SA-A Day 3: After securing a 21-run lead in the first innings, South Africa A were off to a solid start as Sarel Erwee and captain Pieter Malan put on a 69-run stand before Saurabh Kumar dismissed the former for 41.
India A Dismissed for 276 in 1st Innings:
At the start of the day’s play, the game was finely poised with India A on 198 / 5, with Hanuma Vihari (54) and Sarfaraz Khan (71) in good nick at the crease, before their 60-run stand was broken early on by Marco Jansen (3 – 44), while Stuurman grabbed two wickets to further delay India A’s progress in chasing down South Africa’s first innings score of 297.
Through a combination of a run out by George Linde and Raynard van Tonder, and a wicket from Linde’s (1–58) slow-left armers, India was eventually dismissed for 276 (21 runs behind) with Khan left stranded on a well-played 71 not out off 94 balls (8 fours, 2 sixes), as Stuurman ended with figures of 4 – 48.
With a narrow lead on the scoreboard, SA A began their second innings on a positive note, with openers Sarel Erwee (41) and Pieter Malan (31) adding 69 runs for the first wicket and despite losing Erwee in the 17th over, van Tonder (33) picked up the mantle alongside Malan before the latter was run out to leave the South Africans on 98 / 2.
Sensing an opportunity to strike, India A, through Ishan Porel (2–17) and Baba Aparajith (1 – 1) picked up three wickets at the expense of just 17 runs as the SA A side reached stumps on 116 / 5 with a solid 137-run lead ahead of an enthralling final day’s play.
