Around 10 pm in the evening, they were in the dark Via Salvatori region when Leclerc was perceived by fans and halted for photos and autographs. In the midst of a scaled-down scrum, as Leclerc’s presence stood out of an ever-increasing number of fans, a criminal figured out how to grab Leclerc’s watch from his wrist and got away before he had even taken note.

With the thief having got away, Leclerc reported the matter to the police. They are presently researching and investigating whether the burglary was opportunistic or arranged ahead of time.

Leclerc is in Italy ahead of this weekend’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix that is occurring at Imola. He has already won two races out of three in this year’s Formula 1 campaign. First, he won the season opener at Bahrain Grand Prix and settled for a P2 finish in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Later on, he went on to win the Australian Grand Prix as well.

Meanwhile, Leclerc has been the brand ambassador of the Swiss watch brand Richard Mille. They even became the official partner of Ferrari last year itself.

Leclerc isn’t the first driver to be robbed of a costly watch. Last year, Lando Norris had a model of Richard Mille which was grabbed from his wrist after the final of the Euro 2020s at Wembley Stadium.
