New Drama UNFOLDS, PCB to seek Pak Government’s APPROVAL for WC Participation

The India vs Pakistan conflict sees no end. PCB chief Najam Sethi has confirmed that Pakistan Government is set to decide on the Participation and Travel of the Pakistan Cricket Team to India for the ICC World Cup 2023

ICC World Cup 2023: The drama involving India and Pakistan for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 sees no end. Amidst the drama involving India’s match against their arch rivals to be held at Ahmedabad, now a fresh drama has ensued which claims that the Pakistan Cricket Board will now seek permission from their government if they will be allowed to travel to India to participate in the tournament.

Now the visit of Pakistan in India for the ICC World Cup remains in major doubt. PCB chairman Najam Sethi has confirmed that the participation of the Pakistan Cricket team and their travel to India will depend on the decision of the government. The PCB has also written to the ICC claiming that they cannot approve the unilaterally approve the draft schedule for the tournament.

“We have written to the ICC that we can’t give approval or disapproval to this (World Cup schedule),” Sethi said.

“It’s our government who has to decide, just like when it comes to India, it’s their government that decides when they go to play. There is no point asking us if we will play in Ahmedabad. When the time comes, first it will be decided whether we are going or not, then the government decides where we will go. Our decision will rest on these two important conditions,” he added.

India is set to host the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in October this year. Amidst the drama that unfolded regarding the Schedule and the Participation for the Asia Cup, Pakistan are yet to confirm their participation for the ODI World Cup. However, the BCCI had earlier made it clear that the Indian government will grant special Visas for the travelling members.

India is set to lock horns with Pakistan on 15th October in Chennai (most likely) as Pakistan had made it clear that they will not play at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
