ICC T20I Rankings: Pakistan leapfrog India to second – Team India have been dealt another major blow by Pakistan as things continue to worsen for the Men in Blue over the past few weeks. After being handed a chastening 10-wicket defeat in their opening game, India have now been leapfrogged by Pakistan in the ICC T20I rankings. Babar Azam’s side are now second after their superb run in the T20 World Cup, while India have slipped to third.

Team India have been dealt another blow by Pakistan as the Men in Green have leapfrogged them in the ICC T20I rankings. Virat Kohli-led India were second in the table entering the T20 World Cup, but now have slipped to third, three points behind their arch-rivals Pakistan. Pakistan were third entering the tournament, but three wins in three games have given them some crucial ranking points while India have faltered to back to back defeats in the T20 World Cup.

Should India beat Afghanistan on Wednesday, they will still be unable to leapfrog Pakistan and retain their spot unless Pakistan lose their net game against Namibia. Considering the run of fixtures both teams have left in the T20 World Cup, it is unlikely that Virat Kohli and Co. wrestle their position back in the rankings before the tournament draws to a close, barring an upset win for either Scotland or Namibia over Pakistan.

India’s poor show in the T20 World Cup has also seen Virat Kohli and KL Rahul slip below in the batsman rankings. Kohli scored a fifty in the game against Pakistan, dropped down to fifth, while KL Rahul is not eighth after twin failures against Pakistan and New Zealand. Among bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is India’s highest-ranked bowler, who slipped to 15th in the table.
