- In a humdinger of a contest, John Isner held on to his nerves to secure a win against Cristian Garin. The American lost the first set against the Chilean 4-6, but bounced back to turn things around with 6-3, 6-4 victories.

Third seed Reilly Opelka defeated wildcard entrant Nick Kyrgios to qualify for the final.
- Reilly Opelka, who certainly is one of the favourites in this tournament, won the first set very comfortably with a 6-3 margin. Kyrgios put up a better fight in the second set but still came up short, as Opelka won 7-5.
Opelka vs Kyrgios Head-to-Head: Prior to this match, they met only once during last year’s ATP 1000 Masters in Canada. Opelka won the contest 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. Opelka now has a 2-0 win record against Kyrgios.
