Horrified Max Verstappen watches in horror as 2nd Trophy breaks in consecutive races

Max Verstappen in splits after seeing his winner’s trophy broken again in Belgium, just a week after his trophy was broken by Lando Norris in Hungary.

Seasons like this are very scarce to come by, for drivers and teams alike. Red Bull has won every race so far, and Max Verstappen has won 10 out of the 12 races, and 2 out of the 3 sprints. This has seen them break multiple all-time records in the sport, and extend a few of their own. However, they have also found themselves facing a very irregular sight twice in two races: a broken race-winner’s trophy.

Lando Norris: The Destroyer of Trophies

In Hungary, it was Lando Norris’ classic celebration style that knocked Max’s trophy off the podium’s top step. The young Brit and Max Verstappen couldn’t stop giggling at the sight of the broken trophy. There were a lot of jokes, comments, and banter that came out of the incident. Since these trophies come with a replacement clause, Red Bull will be getting another one for their cabinet. Arguably, the broken trophy would now be costlier for a collector than the original.

Few remember a similar incident happening in the previous race at Silverstone. There again, as Lando slammed his champagne bottle against the podium, Max’s trophy fell from the top step. However, that trophy was not as fragile and therefore, survived the incident. However, Hungary proved that Lando does not learn quickly from his mistakes.

Spa: Time to Double Up

Seeing a trophy broken is a rare occurrence in itself. However, seeing two trophies broken in two successive races must be a record of some kind. While the trophies were relieved to not see Lando Norris on the podium at Spa, they weren’t ready for the mighty pit board.

As Red Bull posed with their trophies after the race, they ran when the champagne started. Amidst all that chaos, the Red Bull pit board engaged in some friendly fire with Max’s trophy. It fell on the trophy and broke it. Max Verstappen was laughing in disbelief as he said “It’s broken again”. This time, however, the Red Bulls can’t blame Lando for it.

While a lot of Formula 1 fans are wishing for Max to not win any more trophies this season, this is not what they mean. But jokes aside, who can stop Max this season? And who can save his trophies? Keep checking our site to find out the answer.
