India men’s Hockey team sweat it out in Rourkela – In the video shared by Hockey India, the Indian players can be seen going through their regular drill. Skipper Harmanpreet Singh can be seen in a jovial mood as other players in the team sweat it out o the turf. Indian goalkeeper Krishna Pathak can be seen cooling himself after an intense practice session. The players are also seen playing inter-squad matches before ending their practice session.

It has been 47 years since India last won the World Cup. The Men in Blue’s only triumph came in 1975 when the Hockey World Cup was held in Malaysia. The Harmanpreet Singh-led team will look to end the wait to win a World Cup by lifting the trophy in front of home fans. The Indian Hockey team skipper has promised that the team will give their best during the tournament.

Speaking about Team India’s strategy for the tournament he said, “We have decided to continue with our strategy to maintain the scoreboard at the start of a match. We do not know when the World Cup will be again organized in India, so it is our target to give our best in this World Cup,”.

The FIH men’s hockey world cup will be held between January 13 to 29 in Bhubaneshwar and Rourkela. The 16-team tournament has been divided into four pools.  Australia have been paired alongside Argentina, France, and South Africa in Pool A.  Pool B will have defending champions Belgium, South Korea, Germany and Japan. The Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Chile  are in Pool C. Pool D will have host nations India, England, Spain, and Wales.
