Hockey World Cup Opening Ceremony Highlights – FIH Hockey WC Opening: The Hockey World Cup opening ceremony in Cuttack witnessed some serious fireworks on Wednesday. Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh, also the showstopper for the night, made the fans groove with his sparkling performance. Nearly 40 thousand fans inside the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack sang ‘HOCKEY HAIN DIL MERA’. There were also notable performances from Bollywood Diva Disha Patni, music composer and singer Pritam. The capacitive crowds waited for showstopper Ranveer Singh and he didn’t disappoint the fans. His performance was undoubtedly the most loved by fans inside the Barabati Stadium. He was not the only performer who got all the accolades though. Disha Patni also got the fans going. She looked sizzling hot in her black dress, as she performed on famous Bollywood numbers.

It was a housefull show at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The show started off with an invocation ceremony led by Guru Aruna Mohanty, as a tribute to Lord Jagannath.
A tribute was also paid to Biju Patnaik, the modern architect of the state of Odisha. After an opening speech from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, the ceremony finally got underway.

A power packed performance from the Prince Dance Group set the ball rolling, and there was no looking back. Rapper Big Deal’s high energy performance got the fans going, and also enthralled the fans. Also Rituraj Mohanty’s voice hit the right notes as the crowd appreciated his performance.

Music Maestro Pritam along with his colleagues took the performance to an altogether different level. His team performed for close to an hour and entertained the crowd.
Another notable performance came from K-Pop band Blackswan.
Odisha welcomes all the hockey lovers as it hosts the Hockey World Cup for the second successive time. Cuttack hosts a glittering opening ceremony that will feature top celebrities and performers.

FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup kicks off from January 13
The tournament will be played across two venues in Odisha – Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. As many as 16 teams will be in action in the tournament. The group stages will begin from 13th January and the final is scheduled on 29th January, Sunday. Ahead of the tournament, a spectacular night of the opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday.
Tiled ‘Celebrations’ the show is set to welcome the 15 participating nations. The show will feature traditional Odia music, dance and singimg performances. Fans at the stadium as well as those around the world can witness the glittering performances live for free.

Hockey World Cup Opening Ceremony: Who will perform?
The organisers have planned a host of celebrity performances. The highlight of the action packed show will be the performances of Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Disha Patani. Both the actors are set to enthrall the crowd with their dance moves.
Other peformances for the night will include BLACKSWAN, a famous K-pop band. It is also set to feature a performance from Odisha’s singer Shreya Lenka.
The official anthem of the Hockey World Cup 2023 will also be peformed live on the night. Pritam, the writer and composer of the song will take centrestage alongside vocalists Benny Dayal, Neeti Mohan, Lisa Mishra, Nakash Azi among others.
