As of August 14th, reports from Reuters indicate that wildfires raging on Maui, Hawaii, have resulted in a tragic loss of 96 lives.

These fires have compelled tens of thousands of residents and visitors to flee the island and have left the historic resort town of Lahaina severely impacted.

Insidesport

The most substantial blaze in Lahaina has been brought under control to 85%, scorching an area of 2,170 acres (880 hectares), as reported by Maui County.

Another fire in the upcountry/Kula region is now 60% contained and has consumed 678 acres (270 hectares).

This wildfire incident marks the deadliest in the United States in over a hundred years. Simultaneously, the Big Island of Hawaii is contending with its own wildfires, though fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities there.

Firefighting teams continue to combat rekindled flames. Smaller fires in other locations have been completely contained at 100%.

Our thoughts are with Maui Island as firefighters work tirelessly to manage the ongoing situation.
