He Heard! Nicholas Pooran takes revenge on Hardik Pandya after ‘challenge’ remark

Pandya had made an open challenge to Nicholas Pooran after the 3rd T20I.

West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran took his sweet revenge against Indian skipper Hardik Pandya in IND vs WI 5th T20I. After the 3rd T20I, which India won by 7 wicket, Pandya challenged Pooran to come after him with the bat in 4th T20I.

“If Nicky [Nicholas Pooran] wants to hit, let him hit me and that was the plan, I enjoy such competition. I know he is going to hear this and will come hard at me in the fourth T20I”, Pandya said in post-match presentation.

While the fourth T20I did not see Pooran living up to the challenge, the fifth T20I proved to be a different story altogether. Pooran took his revenge as he managed to struck two towering sixes off Pandya’s bowling.

Notably, this is not the first time Hardik Pandya have come under hot water for his comments. Earlier, the Indian T20I skipper was critcised for making a bold remark on India’s prowness in cricket.

“We can pick two more teams and win any competition in the world”, Hardik Pandya had said before the start of the series. His comment backfired in the very first T20I as India lost the match.

West Indies complete memorable series win

West Indies registered a memorable series win against Team India. Brandon King (85*) and Nicholas Pooran (47) put on 107-run partnership in chase of 166 and took the hosts to victory.

With the series win, they ended India’s 11-series winning run. It is also West Indies’ first bilateral series win in 17 years (minimum 3 games). Meanwhile, it is Team India’s first T20I series loss in 25 months. It is also the first time Team India lost 3 matches in a T20I series.
