As well as being the Champions League’s record goalscorer, he is also the competition’s record appearance holder as well, with United’s 2-1 win over Villarreal marking the striker’s 178th appearance in the competition, surpassing former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas’ tally of 177.

Perhaps his biggest Champions League achievement of them all, Ronaldo has also scored in more finals (four) than any other player. As well as that, Ronaldo’s record of 44 hat-tricks is also a record, as well as him being the quickest man to reach 100, 150, 200 and 250 goals in the Spanish top-flight.
Of his 136 Champions League goals, 109 came whilst he was wearing the famous white of Real Madrid. After joining the Spanish giants in 2009, Ronaldo soon made a real name for himself in the Spanish capital, scoring goal after goal after goal, so much so that he currently sits at the very top of Madrid’s goalscoring charts with a whopping 450 to his name.
After swapping Madrid for Juventus in 2018, the Portuguese sensation continued to set more records. His tally of 37 goals for the Italian heavyweights during the 2019/20 campaign was the highest figure a Juventus player had ever secured in a single season and he became the first player to score 100 goals at club-level in three different countries.

Records with Portugal
Although a FIFA World Cup triumph is missing from Ronaldo’s collection on the international stage, he has won both the European Championship and UEFA Nations League with his native Portugal.
As well as that, the United man, only recently, became international football’s highest goalscorer of all-time, notching his 110th and 111th goals in a 2-1 win over the Republic of Ireland last month.
Furthermore, Ronaldo became the most capped European international footballer of all-time, earning his 181st cap for Portugal, beating the record previously held by Spain defender Sergio Ramos.
Although Portugal bowed out of the European Championship earlier this year at the round-of-16 stage, meaning they failed to retain their crown from Euro 2016, Ronaldo overtook Michel Platini’s record for the number of goals scored at the Euros finals. Ronaldo has scored 14 goals in 25 appearances at the tournament.
As outlined above, Ronaldo is yet to lift the World Cup aloft, but his stunning hat-trick in Portugal’s 3-3 draw in their opening game of the tournament in 2018 means he is the oldest player to have scored a treble at the World Cup finals.
