After Sai Sudharshan slammed a 34-ball 53, Vijay Shankar took charge in the death, hammering 24-ball 63 to take GT across the 200-run mark. Sunil Narine was the best bowler for KKR with three wickets for 33 runs. But with GT scoring 72 runs in the last 4 overs, KKR were blown away.
Chasing a mammoth target of 205, Kolkata Knight Riders stuttered with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Narayan Jagadeesan departing in quick succession. However, Venkatesh Iyer took charge with Nitish Rana, adding 100 runs for the 3rd wicket. Iyer returned to form with a brilliant 40-ball 83 while Rana slammed 29-ball 45.
While they kept KKR cruising, things turned upside down when Alzarri Joseph dismissed Rana and Iyer in quick succession. In 17th over, it seemed all over with Rashid Khan bagging a hat-trick, removing Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Shardul Thakur.
However, Lord Rinku Singh had other plans. With 29 required off the last over, Rashid Khan handed the ball to Yash Dayal. But Rinku Singh took him on for 5 sixes in a row to win the game.
