While Shubman Gill was playing cautiously, Saha did not take any time to settle and hit boundaries in almost every over of the field restrictions. This was Saha’s 12th fifty in the franchise-based league. To note, the veteran batter had earlier played an impactful knock against the same opposition previously in IPL 2023.
Saha innings came to an end after he tried to clear the boundary on the bowling of Avesh Khan. He finished on 81 runs in just 43 balls. The right-handed batter stroked 10 fours and four big maximums before he was scalped to end an entertaining innings.
Saha’s 20-ball fifty is now the joint-third fastest half-century in this season. Earlier, Jos Buttler, Shardul Thakur and Shivam Dube have also struck fifties in the same number of deliveries. Nicholas Pooran holds the baton for the fastest half-century, off 15 balls, this season. He is followed by Ajinkya Rahane, who slammed a 19-ball fifty against Kolkata Knight Riders.
