The result did not change the standings though. Gujarat Titans failed to double the lead at the top. They remain on the pole with 12 points from 9 games. But the win did help DC survive the playoff race. With 6 points from 9 games, DC now still have a shot at the playoffs.
A resounding away victory for @DelhiCapitals 🥳🥳#DC was full of belief tonight and they register a narrow 5-run win in Ahmedabad 👏🏻👏🏻

Gujarat Titans Innings:
Chasing a target of just 131, Gujarat Titans suffered the same fate as Delhi Capitals did. Khaleel Ahmed struck in the first over to dismiss Wriddhiman Saha for a duck. Anrich Nortje (1/39) got rid of the dangerous Shubman Gill (6).
Soon, veteran pacer Ishant Sharma (2/23) outfoxed Vijay Shankar (6) with a perfectly executed knuckle ball. With that, Gujarat were reduced to 26/3. After the powerplay, Kuldeep Yadav made It 32/4 with the prized scalp of David Miller.
But Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar (26) steadied the Gujarat ship with 62-run stand for the fifth wicket. After Manohar threw his wicket away off Khaleel Ahmed, Pandya anchored the innings with Tewatia.

With 33 needed off last two overs, Iceman Tewatia took matters in his own hands, smashing Nortje with a hat-trick of sixes. But with 12 needed off the final over, Ishant gave away just six runs while taking the vital wicket of Tewatia.
Delhi Capitals Innings: Earlier, Delhi once again suffered a dramatic collapse. Mohammad Shami bowled the spell of IPL 2023, scalping 4/11 to reduce DC to 23/5.
Shami struck on the first ball to get rid off Phil Salt for a golden duck. A horrible mix-up between young Priyam Garg (10) and skipper David Warner (2) cost Delhi the wicket of the Australian in the second over.

Rilee Rossouw (8) was next to depart as Shami struck once again. Shami continued his wicket-taking streak in his third over, snaring two in his final over.
The Indian bowled a wobble seam delivery, tempting Manish Pandey (1) to drive it. But the late movement meant the ball found the edge of the bat and Saha completing a stunning one-handed catch diving to his right. Shami’s final victim of the night was Garg with Saha yet again completing another catch behind the stumps.
Axar Patel (27) and Aman did stem the rot with some much-needed runs. But pacer Mohit Sharma (2/33) broke the 50-run partnership as he snared the wicket of the Delhi vice-captain.
The uncapped Aman brought up a much-needed half century in 41 balls. His innings was studded with three hits to the fence and as many over it.
