Gujarat Titans Auction Updates – IPL Auction LIVE Updates: Gujarat Titans will be fairly happy with how their debut panned out in the auction when the proceedings began on Day 1 of the IPL 2022 auction. Gujarat signed Indian pace ace Mohammed Shami and Lockie Ferguson, while added the likes of Jason Roy, Rahul Tewatia to add further depth to the line up. Follow InsideSport.IN for IPL 2022 Auction LIVE Updates & Check Gujarat Titans Full Squad IPL Auction Day 2 LIVE Updates

Having spent Rs 37 Cr on retaining three players, Gujarat Titans were pragmatic to begin with but did bag a couple of steals with the signing of Mohammed Shami and Jason Roy. Shami’s winning bid of Rs 6.25 crore was particularly impressive considering how the likes of Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur, Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar fetched in excess of Rs 10 crore.

Gujarat Titans then did break the bank in their purchase of an overseas speedster, signing New Zealand quick Lockie Ferguson for Rs 10 crore. One of the fastest bowlers in the world, Ferguson adds to Titans’ wonderful bowling attack with Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami leading the charge.

Gujarat also went in heavily on little Abhinav Manohar, a little known uncapped star, who has a reputation of scoring quick runs down the order. Titans then defied logic with a massive bidding war for Rahul Tewatia, eventually bagging him for Rs 9 crore. Tewatia will be a crucial lower-order player for Gujarat and will take up finishing duties alongside captain Hardik Pandya.

The spin contingent further saw the additions of Noor Ahmed and Sai Kishore, and the duo should come in handy should Rashid need some assistance. Gujarat still have Rs 18.85 crore remaining and will now look to add some batting firepower to their lineup.

With Hardik and Tewatia taking on the all-rounders role and Rashid Khan and Lockie taking up two overseas slots, Gujarat have the luxury to go all-in on some overseas superstars and nab them in the auction. The likes of Liam Livingstone, Devon Conway, Dawid Malan, Steve Smith, Suresh Raina will all be available to pick on Day 2 and one can expect the Titans to be smart and get their plans in motion.
