LSG vs MI Eliminator: IPL 2023: Akash Madhwal ended with figures of 5/5 as Mumbai Indians booked their place in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 after thrashing Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs in the Eliminator on Wednesday. Batting first, Mumbai Indians mounted a solid comeback after Naveen-ul-Haq’s four-wicket haul to reach 182/8 in 20 overs. Lucknow Super Giants in reply kept losing wickets at regular intervals and while Stoinis tried to keep LSG in the game with his quick knock of 40, his departure just led to a stunning collapse as they got bundled out for 101. Netizens were quick to call out Naveen ul Haq, who a couple of days earlier had shared a meme to take a dig at Virat Kohli and RCB who failed to reach the Playoffs after suffering defeat against Gujarat Titans. Although the Afghan bowler was the top wicket-taker for LSG in the game, Twitterati didn’t show any mercy as they trolled the bowler.
Check out some of the reactions:
Ever since the standoff between Kohli and Naveen happened in Lucknow, the media spotlight has been on them. Earlier, during LSG’s final league game against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, fans chanted “Kohli, Kohli” when Naveen came out to bowl. In response, Naveen later took a brilliant catch and placed his finger on his lip, and asked them to shush.
Mumbai Indians to face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2
Earlier, Mumbai Indians reached a competitive total on the back of Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav’s brisk knocks. While Naveen’s crucial wickets kept MI in check, Nehal Wadhera smashed a 12-ball 23 to power the Rohit-led side to 182. In reply, Barring Marcus Stoinis, all the other LSG batters crumbled under pressure as the side eventually got bundled out for a mere 101. Mumbai Indians will now face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 on May 26 at Narendra Modi Stadium. The winner of the game will join CSK in the IPL final.
