The Playing for the Planet Alliance hosted a landmark event at Finland – the first-ever Playing for the Planet Awards. This ceremony celebrated and recognized gaming studios leading the charge in sustainability, climate action, and environmental initiatives. PUBG Mobile has been awarded the prestigious Media’s Choice Award at the 2024 Green Game Jam for PUBG Mobile Play For Green Campaign.
PUBG Mobile Play for Green Campaign
The ‘Play For Green’ campaign launched as part of Green Game Jam organised by Playing For The Planet, an initiative supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to support the planet in real action through games and raise awareness of environmental protection.
The Media’s Choice Award celebrated the activation’s remarkable ambition and scale. Judges particularly appreciated the inclusion of a climate expert and the visual impact of redesigning a map, as well as the collective real-world impact on forests. Judges also commented on the alignment of the activation to player interests, citing the fact that the activation began with a worldwide survey of players to identify core insights that would inform the campaign.
