League of Legends is set to launch its brand-new seasonal model, kicking off the year with Season One: Noxian Domination. Beginning January 9, players can immerse themselves in the grandeur and might of Noxus through new in-game experiences, thematic updates, and exciting additions that push the boundaries of competitive and narrative gameplay. From the arrival of Mel Medarda, a pivotal figure from Arcane, to the thrilling new in-game objective Atakhan, this season promises to deliver a deeply engaging and innovative League of Legends experience.

League of Legends Season One: Noxian Domination

The Season of Noxus marks a bold evolution for League of Legends, combining immersive narrative elements with competitive enhancements. The eight-patch season is divided into two Acts, each featuring a dedicated Battle Pass packed with Noxian-themed rewards, including skins, borders, and more. A single-ranked reset took place globally on January 9 at 12:00 p.m.
local time.

Mel the Soul’s Reflection

Mel Medarda makes her debut as a playable champion with unique gameplay mechanics that redefine the battlefield. Reflecting her Noxian heritage and resilience, Mel offers powerful abilities focused on projectile reflection and overwhelming her enemies.

League of Legends Mel Medarda: Abilities

Passive–Searing Brilliance: Using abilities grants Mel bonus projectiles on her next attack. When damaging enemies, she applies Overwhelm, stacking damage until reaching an execution threshold.
Q – Radiant Volley: A barrage of projectiles explodes in a target area, repeatedly damaging enemies.
W – Rebuttal: Grants speed, a protective barrier reflecting enemy projectiles, and immunity from damage.
E – Solar Snare: Fires an orb that roots enemies, deals damage, and slows surrounding targets over time.
R – Golden Eclipse: Strikes all enemies marked with Overwhelm, dealing increasing damage based on Overwhelm stacks.

Mel will be available for free through one of the seasonal missions. Players can further delve into her story in the upcoming novel Ambessa: Chosen of the Wolf, releasing in February.

Atakhan, Bringer of Ruin

Adding to Noxus’ influence, Atakhan introduces a game-changing in-game objective. This colossal threat spawns at the 20-minute mark on either the top or bottom side of the map. Teams that successfully slay him gain permanent terrain changes and buffs, adding a strategic layer to late-game decision-making.

Narrative and Thematic Expansions

Noxian dominance extends beyond Summoner’s Rift into thematic narrative expressions such as the Reckoning Pits of Noxus and new game modes. Act Two will introduce an updated Arena mode with a Noxus-themed gladiatorial map, complete with unique mechanics. Beyond the game, the League team will expand storytelling through motion comics, mini-games, and future updates to beloved champions like LeBlanc.

Act One brings back All Random URF, while Act Two sees the return of Arena, now updated with Noxian themes. New items, augments, and map-specific changes reflect feedback from the community to deliver a more engaging experience. Players can also vote on Guests of Honor, prominent Noxian figures who can alter game rules.
