Galaxy Racer and Team Elite unable to participate in Free Fire World Series 2021 due to Coronavirus Pandemic. Heartbreaking news coming for the fans of  Free Fire esports India. Garena posted an update on their Facebook handle today. They stated that Indian teams will not be able to participate in the upcoming World Series. This announcement came after the travel restrictions implanted by the Singapore government.

Garena announced,

“Last month, we unveiled our plans for the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2021 Singapore. But due to national travel restrictions, the two teams from India – Galaxy Racer Esports and Team Elite – will not be able to travel to Singapore to compete. We make this difficult decision to proceed with the World Series without the teams from India after having explored all options to include them.”

On Thursday, April 22, the Singapore government announced the travel restrictions for the visitors who have a travel history to India within the last 14 days. They will not be allowed to visit Singapore for the long term. Due to this restriction, Indian teams who got qualified for the FFWS, the biggest Free Fire tournament in history, would not be able to compete.

What does it mean for Indian Teams and fans?

Free Fire esports is growing so fast in India, where a large number of players compete in the official tournaments. Free Fire India Championship Spring season is one of the biggest esports tournaments in India where thousands of teams participated. After days of qualifiers and multiple stages, the top two teams have secured the spot in the upcoming FFWS 2021.

Fans are waiting for a global tournament like Free Fire World Series 2021 for a long time. They wanted to see the Indian teams competing at the global stage of Free Fire and bring the trophy home. In the last 2 months, the Coronavirus Pandemic situation got worst where numbers are increasing so fast. Due to this situation, the Singapore government took the decision to restrict visitors from India.

Garena also stated that they share the disappointment of both teams, they will award a share of the prize pool to both teams. This award will be given for the achievement of qualify for the Free Fire World Series 2021.
