That is to halt World No.1 Iga Swiatek’s 34 match, 5 tournament unbeaten streak. Gauff has never beaten Swiatek in past but is confident that result can change today. The young American has declared that she is ready for her 1st Grand Slam Title in her first Grand Slam Final. “She’s on a streak right now and I think going in I have nothing to lose and she’s definitely the favourite going into the match on paper,” said the grounded 18-year-old.

“I’m just going to play free and play my best tennis. I think in a Grand Slam final anything can happen.

“Now I’m definitely ready to win one (Grand Slam) but I’m not putting pressure on myself. I think there’s a fine line between believing in yourself and almost pushing yourself too much.”, declared confident Gauff

Swiatek vs Gauff HEAD to Head and other important STATS

  • Top seed Iga Swiatek takes on 18th seed Coco Gauff
  • 2020 Champion Swiatek is on 34 matches winning streak and has won five consecutive titles.
  • 18-year-old Gauff will be playing her first Grand Slam singles final
  • Head to Head: The pair have met twice before. Swiatek has won both times. First in Miami earlier this year by 6-3, 6-1 and the other in Rome last year, when Gauff pushed her to 7-6(3), 6-3.

  • World No.1 Iga Swiatek started the year with a semifinal appearance at Adelaide International. She then played in the Australian Open and was ousted in the semifinals. Her next tournament was the Dubai Tennis Championships as she faced second round exit in the tournament.
  •  She is however currently unstoppable on the tour as she has also won 34 matches consecutively this season. The streak began in the month of February this year at Qatar Open, where she was crowned as the champion.
  • Since then there was no looking back for her as she won the titles in Indian Wells Masetsr, Miami Open, Stuttgart Open and Italian Open.
  • She now eye her second French Open title, having won the title at the clay court major in 2020.
At French Open so far – 
  • Swiatek started the tournament with straight set victory against Lesia Tsurenko in the first round.
  • In the second round, she defeated Alison Riske in straight sets and defeated Danka Kovinic in straight sets in third round.
  • She dropped a set for the first time in the fourth round against Qinwen Zheng.
  • In the quarterfinal, she defeated Jessica Pegula in straight sets and in the semifnal dropped just three games against Daria Kasatkina.

  • Meanwhile, Coco Gauff faced second round exit at Adelaide International and reached the semifinal in the Adelaide International II. At the Australian Open, she faced first round exit.
  • After losing in the first round at Dubai Tennis Championships, she reached the quarterfinal at Qatar.
  • She started the clay court season at Stuttgart Open with a first round exit and then faced two third round exits at Madrid Open and Italian Open.

At French Open so far – 

  • At the French Open, she defeated Rebecca Marino in straight sets in the first round. She is yet to drop a single set in the tournament.
  • She defeated Alison van Uytvanck, Kaia Kanepi and Elysse Mertens in the next three rounds.
  • In the quarterfinal, she defeated Sloane Stephes 7-5, 6-2. In the semifinal, she defeated Martina Trevisan 6-3, 6-1.

Swiatek vs Gauff Head-to-Head: This will be the third meeting between both these players. Swiatek has won both their previous meetings. They last met this year at the Miami Open with Swiatek winning the match in straight sets. Swiatek is once again the favourite in this contest.
