Sindhu vs Christopherson LIVE: PV Sindhu got her campaign off to a fine start as she raced to a 21-15, 21-18 win over Denmark’s Julie Dawall Jakobsen. Sindhu who is one of the favourites for the competition after being seeded third did suffer a few hiccups before sealing the deal with a burst of winners to take the match in straight sets.
World No.39 Jakobsen threatened to force a decider after leading 17-14 in the second game, but Sindhu rallied to finish off the contest and conserve energy for later in the tournament.
She will now face off against another Danish star in Line Christopherson. The 21-year-old clinched a straight-sets win over Polish star Jordan Hart. A silver medallist at the European Championships earlier this summer, Christopherson will prove to be a stern test for Sindhu, as she looks to make it to the quarter-finals on Thursday.
