On the other hand, Mercedes is struggling with their car model. The seven-time champion, Lewis Hamilton finished fifth in Bahrain, 51 seconds off Verstappen. The car has somehow failed to meet the expectations of the F1 driver.

With Red Bull and Ferrari doing so well in the testing, Hamilton is concerned about falling behind them. The concern is real because even with the upgrades in the car, it is still difficult for the model to pick up the pace on the track.

The team is clear about still having some work to do on car pace but it has given a proper picture of where they need to put their focus more. Long hours of effort and somehow the Model is still not up to the mark.
However, the F1 driver talks about his team doing a great job with the pit stops. He also says how the car is just not there at the moment as a lot of work is left, but it will soon be. “ We are lacking downforce and we have just got to work really hard to try and add that ASAP,” says Hamilton. Hamilton has faith in the team about closing the gap with the runaway leader, Red Bull.

The team principal, Wolff admits that his team needs to choose one or the other direction. So it’s either upgrading the model to a whole new level or changing the model itself. He also stated about investigating all the changes that were made to their design to provide an immediate improvement in pace. Mercedes could decide to continue working on their current model and Hamilton has urged them to do exactly that instead of changing the model.
