Red Bull has run away with the F1 constructors’ championship this year. While the other teams keep tripping over each other, Red Bull steers clear of all of them. But the drivers’ championship holds the glory for just one man: Max Verstappen. The Dutchman has annihilated his teammate Sergio Perez and holds a 125-point advantage going into the summer break. Listen to what Zak Brown had to say about the two teammates.
“If there were two Sergios…”
Zak Brown, in a recent interview with ESPN, was scathing in his criticism of Sergio Perez. He acknowledged the brilliant job Red Bull had done with the RB19. However, he also pointed out how it was just one driver who was doing the winning.

In a brutally honest assessment, Zak Brown stated that the championship would be wide open if there were 2 Sergios in the Red Bull, the championship would be wide open right now. The Mexican had a wretched run in the middle of the season, not making Q3 for 5 consecutive races. Drivers like Alex Albon and Nico Hulkenberg had reached Q3 more times than him.
However, the Mexican staged a comeback in the last 2 races of the season. He reached Q3 in both Hungary and Belgium and finished on the podium in both races as well. However, his deficit to Max Verstappen was significant, who went on to win both races comfortably.

Max Verstappen “killing” the competition
Zak Brown also remarked how it was just one driver killing the competition. And he is right in his assessment. Max Verstappen has won 10 races out of 12 this season, 8 of them in a row. He has been head and shoulders above his teammate in both qualifying and race pace.
Max has scored multiple grand slams this season. He is on course to break a lot of all-time records and only a shock event can stop him. He currently has more points than the second-placed constructor in the standings. There are many more stats and they all point to how dominant he is. Therefore, as harsh as it may seem, one can’t say Zak Brown is wrong.
