The worst starts of all, however, was of McLaren driver Lando Norris. The strong-headed Briton put up an absolute stellar of show on Saturday to attain his best ever position so far this season with a second row start.
The happiness, however, didn’t last long for the 24-year old. Right at the start of the Spanish GP, he had a collision with Hamilton going into the first turn.
Hamilton started the race in P4, right at the tail of fellow Briton Norris. As the lights went out, Hamilton had a good start going into lead from Norris in Turn 1. The McLaren man followed closely behind Hamilton moving into Turn 2. However, he appeared to accelerate a bit too soon, and making contact with the rear of Hamilton’s car and damaging his front wing in the process.
This forced the McLaren driver into an early pit stop on the first lap of the race. This inadvertently led to dropping him all the way to the back of the field. To state the obvious, totally ruining his good work after earning a P3 grid slot in the Saturday qualifying.
He even had a lot of trouble getting to the pits, and losing time in the process. After a terrible start, he managed a few overtakes but as the race reached its culmination, he found himself down in the 17th spot only ahead of Magnussen, Bottas, Seargent.
