  • Fixing the Porpoising Issue

Firstly, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have to think of a way where they can minimize Porpoising. Lewis Hamilton was still suffering due to Porpoising at the Bahrain GP. It was becoming very difficult for the Brit to handle his car on the straight.

Mercedes can change their floor in order to minimize their Porpoising effect. It’s something they should try in for the next race and it if works then all good for the Silver Arrows team.

  • Extracting the Most out of the Engine

Secondly, Lewis Hamilton needs to find a way where he can extract the most out of his new engine. Mercedes have been halted in their updation of the new car due to Porpoising. But, it’s just a matter of time when they will come out of it strongly.

Ferrari has come out all guns blazing as they have proper knowledge of their 2022 car. It isn’t the case with Mercedes. Ferrari was the first one who faced Porpoising issues back in the first Pre-season Testing in Barcelona.

But, they were looking sharp in the second Pre-season testing and also the Bahrain Grand Prix. Ferrari has the best engine so far in the 2022 season and it showed in the first race. They were just uncatchable for the other teams and will pose a major threat going into the season.

Red Bull after their separation from Honda in terms of Engine building has made a fairly decent engine as was evident in the preseason testing. With over hundreds of former Mercedes employees alongside Yamamoto, the chief engineer for Honda working as a freelancer with Red Bull this season, it can be expected that Red Bull will seek to sort their engine reliability issues.

Meanwhile, Mercedes ruled the turbo-hybrid era with their cars and engines. They were just untouchable that time as they won eight consecutive Constructors’ championships. It would be a matter of time before the expert car and engine manufacturers solve their problem.

  • Locking Front-Row Grid with George Russell

Thirdly, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have the knowledge of the first race with them. So it will be easy for them to go through the stats and try locking the front row grid in Qualifying coming Saturday.

Lewis Hamilton will have to give it his all as he knows that this year’s car is not up to the mark. Ferrari and Red Bull have better cars than what Mercedes have this year. It will be difficult for Lewis and George to go against the likes of Ferrari. But if they have to fight for the title, then they have to be on their toes for the remaining 22 races.

It’s a tough task ahead for Mercedes, but they know what they have to do to make things work in their favor. The next race takes place in Saudi Arabia on 27th March.
