Formula 1: Red Bull reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo is all set to take up a new role this year. The Aussie star will put his creative hat on later this season and dip his toe in broadcasting with ESPN. Ricciardo will star in a TV show across three races with Canadian actor Will Arnett titled, ‘The Grandstand with Daniel Ricciardo and Will Arnett’. The Arrested Development star previously hosted an F1 show with former world champion Mika Hakkinen.
The ESPN show is scheduled ahead of three races including Montreal next weekend. Two further editions are set for the United States Grand Prix in October and the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November. Daniel Ricciardo is currently discharging his reserve driver duties with the Milton Keynes team. At the end of the last season, the Aussie was forced to hang his helmet after McLaren terminated his contract to make place for Piastri.
The “Honey Badger” then returned to the team he has seen most of his success with. Red Bull boss Horner found a great opportunity to have an extremely talented pilot for the sim work. Moreover, the team also looked to cash in on the huge popularity that he brings to the table. Meanwhile, for Ricciardo, it was all about staying in a loop in F1 with the team that was once his home. However, now he has taken up a really exciting adventure.
