Qatar GP Live: Max Verstappen goes for first win as a triple world champion, Mercedes look to challenge

Max Verstappen will start the Qatar GP as a 3-time World Champion in Formula 1. He will start the race from pole position with both Mercedes right behind him.

Oscar Piastri took a brilliant win in the Sprint race at the Qatar GP. However, the McLaren drivers will be starting further down the order on Sunday. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen will definitely be hurting after losing the sprint. He will look to take another race win from pole position in Formula 1. Meanwhile, both the Mercedes will be starting just behind Max. They will look to bring strategy into play.

3-Time World Champion

Max Verstappen sealed his 3rd Formula 1 title on the Saturday of the Qatar GP weekend. However, he didn’t have to wait till the end. As soon as his teammate Sergio Perez failed to finish the sprint race, he was the champion.

Max Verstappen will definitely feel he could have had the win. But Oscar Piastri proved to be too quick in his McLaren. He has time to make things right on Sunday.

Mercedes in the Picture

Lewis Hamilton showed really good race pace during the sprint race on his medium tyres. George Russell pulled off some brilliant moves before his softs started to wear off. This will give Mercedes plenty of hope to pull something off at the Qatar GP.

With the high tyre degradation, a surprise race win at the Qatar GP is not out of the picture. This would be their first Formula 1 win in 2023. However, a double podium is definitely on the table.

Will Max Verstappen cruise to another Formula 1 victory in 2023? Or can Mercedes pull off a surprise? Will McLaren be able to stage a comeback? Join us as we cover the race live.
