Pirelli Boss Veils Statement Against Tyre Showdown Amidst Bridgestone F1 Return Rumors

Credible sources reported that the Japanese tire manufacturer Bridgestone is mulling a Formula 1 return

Formula 1 has embarked on becoming the grandest, glitziest, and highest order of Motorsports over the last few years. Amidst others, the official tire manufacturer brand Pirelli has been one constant in these momentous years of F1. The Italian brand has been the sole global tire supplier in the sport since 2011. However, recent reports suggest that this highly ambitious and memorable partnership might come to an end soon.

Credible sources reported that the Japanese tire manufacturer Bridgestone is mulling a Formula 1 return. With FIA already floating tender for an official tire manufacturer, Bridgestone could return in 2025. The contract between Pirelli and F1 is due to completion at the end of 2024. Recently, Pirelli F1 boss Mario Isola gave his views on this highly advocated return of a tire showdown lately.

Isola against Tire Showdown in F1, advocates for sole supplier

Amidst Bridgestone return rumors, many fans are demanding a tire showdown just like it used to be back in the day. However, the Italian boss doesn’t concur with this opinion and gave his reasons for the same. “It’s difficult. The risk is when you are in competition, the race is decided by tires and not by the cars or drivers. We want the drivers to be the heroes of the show, not the tires.”

“We are happy to be part of the show and give our contribution to the show but not to replace drivers. That’s not right,” added Isola.

New Manufacturer will take time to get to the speed: Isola

As the threat of replacement looms on the head of Pirelli and Isola, the Italian brand is using everything in its power to continue its relationship with F1. In his recent interview with Sky, Isola made it very clear that Pirelli has both acumen and intention to be in Formula 1 for an even longer streak. Moreover, he even remarked on how it would take time for any other manufacturers to get to speed with the widely changed nature of the sport over the past few years.

“It will take time, for sure. Looking at the regulations, they are more complicated than 12 years ago. The sporting and technical regulations are much bigger,” he explained,” said Isola.
