‘Not On My Watch’ – Watch Carlos Sainz chase & pin robbers who stole his watch

Carlos Sainz did all the defending on the Sunday of the Italian GP. However, later that day, he had to put in a chase after being robbed. Watch the video below.

Carlos Sainz capped off a wonderful Italian GP weekend with a podium for Ferrari at Monza. He defended from Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, and then Charles Leclerc. On the podium, he urged the crowd to raise the decibels as he received his award. However, later that night he had to put a chase of his own, this time after a robbery.

An Excellent Sunday Afternoon

Nobody expected Carlos Sainz to hold off Max Verstappen for as long as he did during the Italian GP. It was a combination of better straight-line speed, late braking, and some great defensive car positioning. However, as is the norm in 2023, Max Verstappen got past and romped home to victory.

After a similarly long battle with Sergio Perez, the second Red Bull passed his Ferrari as well. This was less down to Carlos Sainz, and more down to the worse tyre degradation of the Ferrari. Then, in the closing stages of the Italian GP, Charles Leclerc closed in. He and Carlos Sainz gave us one of the best teammate battles we have seen for quite some time. Carlos was able to defend well with dead tyres and managed to secure a podium for Ferrari at Monza.

A Terrible Sunday Night

A Ferrari driver encounters a lot of fans wherever he goes in Italy. But Carlos Sainz didn’t expect to encounter 3 robbers outside his Milan Hotel. All of them were aged between 18 and 20. They robbed his Richard Mille watch, the Alexander Zverev model named after the tennis player from Germany.

Carlos Sainz and his assistant chased down one of the robbers. His Manager chased down the other one, and another one of his personnel pinned the third. The police then arrived and took them away. In a video that has surfaced, Carlos Sainz can be seen gasping for air with the crowd applauding him.

Notably last year, Charles Leclerc had his Richard Mille watch stolen as well before the Imola GP. However, unlike his teammate, he wasn’t able to chase them down that night.
