Max Verstappen SPILLS BEANS, suggests solution for rival teams to close in on Red Bull

Max Verstappen has been in F1 for long enough to witness multiple phases, though currently he is living the dream of every motorsports driver

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is already the odds-on favorite to win the 2023 F1 championship, making it his third consecutive title. Red Bull is going through an era of sheer dominance in F1 right now. After the major overhaul in rules last season, the Milton-Keynes team came out cracked the code better than the rest of the grid. Now, with second year running, the team holds significant advantage over chief rivals Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin.

However, this concept of sheer competitive advantage is not new to the sport. Earlier we have seen Ferrari dominating with Schumacher behind the wheel, and later Sebastian Vettel pulled off a similar stint with Red Bull. The grandest, however, of all was the lethal combination of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes starting 2014. The Brackley team was unstoppable between 2014 and 2021, and it took a mighty effort from Max to end that hegemony in the ultimate year.

Now, with a similar dominance on track, Verstappen looks all set to win another title this season. Out of the Six rounds this season, he already has 4 wins to his name. Many influential figures in F1 consider this advantage as counterproductive for the rising boom and popularity of the sport. In his recent interview with Motorsport.com, he opened up about what might be a pragmatic solution to this.

Max Verstappen advocates for unchanged rules in F1

F1 regulations are tweaked every few years. Without fail, after every major overhaul, there is always a team that has a number over everyone else. On being asked about the same to the defending World Champion, he had a rather practical solution to it.

“We’ve always seen this in Formula 1, it’s nothing new. I think the longer you leave the regulations the same, the closer people will get. So maybe this is something we need to look at,” said the Dutchman.

“Just keep the regulations the same for a longer period of time. Because if you keep on tweaking stuff, one particular team will always find something a bit better than the others and then it takes a bit of time for everyone to close up, from my side,” he added.
