Max Verstappen expects ‘Supportive’ Silverstone Crowd at British GP

Max Verstappen expects ‘Supportive’ Silverstone Crowd at British GP

Verstappen does not have many fond memories at Silverstone.

Max Verstappen is dominating the 2023 season through and through. The Dutchman has now registered 5 consecutive wins to put an even taller claim for this year’s championship battle. As the paddock has now arrived at Silverstone for the much-exciting British GP, he is currently 81 points clear of Sergio Perez in the title lead. However, the upcoming race will be the one that doesn’t bring back healthy memories for the Red Bull man.

Back in 2021, he and Lewis Hamilton were involved in a tenacious F1 title fight, the tipping point of which was the fiery crash at Silverstone. The Dutchman hit the barriers at nearly 300 km/h which landed him in the hospital. The next time around in 2022 it was not a great welcome for the Dutchman given the controversial incident in Abu Dhabi a month ago. He was constantly booed by the crowd throughout the weekend.

What made things more terrible for Verstappen was early damage to his car which led to the disappointing P7 finish. Now, the team and Verstappen himself are here to unturn the ghost of Silverstone, and the Dutch star is rather positive about it.

As the momentum is going on currently, Verstappen is most likely to register another win here. Not just that, he will be eyeing another record at this British GP. Winning the 2023 F1 British GP will make Red Bull even with McLaren on the most consecutive wins by any team, 11. However, fans are anticipating the response of the crowd when it will come to Super Max.

On being asked about the same, he had a rather positive answer to it. Moreover, he mentioned that it is a home race for Milton Keynes-based Red Bull as well, which makes it even more important for the team. “I don’t know if the crowd is against me, and it’s not an away game, it’s our home Grand Prix as well. I spend a lot of time in Milton Keynes,” said Verstappen as reported by SkySports.

“It’s an important race for us, we enjoy coming here, and I don’t see it as having to prove anything against the crowd or whatever. I’m just here to have a good race and try to win,” added the Two-time world champion.
