Formula 1 has had 74 seasons, and 1100 Grands Prix, and yet, Max Verstappen has broken another unforeseen record. The Red Bull driver won the Las Vegas GP on a cold Saturday night. However, his victory was anything but. He had a close fight with Charles Leclerc and a slight tussle with George Russell. After winning the Las Vegas GP, the Red Bull driver became the first Formula 1 driver to win 3 races in the same country in a season.

A Serious Triple Victory

Max Verstappen is having an amazing Formula 1 season. He is dominating the sport like no one ever has. He has already broken almost every individual driving record there is in Formula 1. At the wheel of his Red Bull, he made another record this year when he won the Las Vegas GP.

Coupled with the Miami GP and the Austin GP, Formula 1 had three races in the USA this year. Max Verstappen won all three of them. He became the first ever Formula 1 driver to do so in the history of the sport. However, how unique is it?

Only 3 ever chances

2023 was just the third Formula 1 season which featured 3 races in a single country. The first one also featured the Las Vegas GP. The 1982 season had three races in the USA: Long Beach, Detroit, and Caesar’s Palace. 3 different drivers won the 3 races in that season.

The second time we got 3 races in the same country in a single season was 2020. Due to Covid, the calendar underwent massive changes and we got a bunch of new tracks. Italy was a major beneficiary, because we got Imola and Mugello, along with our usual Monza.

While Imola has stuck around, we never returned to Mugello after 2020. Lewis Hamilton could have taken this record that year, but a late-race penalty at Monza meant he only won 2 out of the 3.

After winning the Las Vegas GP, Max Verstappen has also won the last 6 races in the United States. Who do you think will stop him?
