Max Verstappen dominated the Japanese GP Qualifying. The Red Bull RB19 took to Suzuka like fish to water. Max Verstappen had dominated all the free practice sessions and did the same in qualifying. McLaren turned out to be his closest challenger, with Ferrari and Mercedes struggling for pace.
Qualifying 1
The Japanese GP Qualifying started with a big crash for Logan Sargeant. He got a dollop of oversteer coming out of the last chicane and crashed into the final corner. Max Verstappen topped Q1. Meanwhile both Alfa Romeos got knocked out. Nico Hulkenberg, Lance Stroll, and Logan Sargeant joined them.

Qualifying 2
Max Verstappen really laid down the gauntlet in this session of the Japanese GP Qualifying. He did just one run on used soft tyres early in the session. Despite massive track improvement, only Charles Leclerc was able to better that time, and he did it on new tyres. Both Alpines, Alex Albon, Liam Lawson, and Kevin Magnussen got knocked out in Q2.

Qualifying 3
Max Verstappen once again set out early in his Red Bull. He put in a solid time for pole position at the Japanese GP, as both McLaren cars lined up behind him. Both Ferraris only did one run, along with George Russell and Fernando Alonso.
Alonso finished 10th, behind Yuki Tsunoda in 9th, and Russell in 8th. Lewis Hamilton finished 7th behind Carlos Sainz in 6th. Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez rounded off the top 5 as Max Verstappen and both McLaren cars finished in the top 3.
Max Verstappen will look to take his 13th win of the season and Red Bull will look to secure the constructors’ title. Meanwhile, the McLaren drivers will look to bring strategy into play.
