Felipe Drugovich is one of the reserve drivers for Aston Martin this year in Formula 1. The young Brazilian will be stepping into the AMR23 for an hour during the FP1 session at the Italian GP. This will not be his first time driving the AMR23. He replaced the injured Lance Stroll during the testing in Bahrain.
Fond Memories at the Temple of Speed
Felipe Drugovich will have fond memories of the Italian GP. He wrapped up his Formula 2 championship 12 months ago at this track. This time, he returns there as someone who has extensive Formula 1 experience.

Aston Martin has been investing heavily in the development of Felipe Drugovich. They rate him very highly, which is clear by several of their actions. He was the first in line to replace Lance Stroll during testing at Bahrain this year.

For a while, it was unclear whether he would be fit for the opening round. Aston Martin were pretty confident that Felipe Drugovich would take his place should that happen. He drove in his first practice session last year in Abu Dhabi.
Since then, Felipe Drugovich has been racking up Formula 1 mileage with the AMR21, their 2021-spec car. He has driven around Barcelona, Silverstone, and the Red Bull Ring. There are a lot of restrictions around Formula 1 testing nowadays. At such a time, he should consider himself lucky to have gained so much experience.
An Opportunity to Impress
Felipe Drugovich impressed everyone in Bahrain. Since then, he has helped develop the car by doing simulator work. This is now his opportunity to feel the development. He has a lot more experience now and will be focusing on giving good feedback.

Aston Martin doesn’t have a seat available currently. However, Felipe Drugovich knows there are still a few seats up for grabs.
